About The Conference
The Southeast Asian Network of Ergonomics Societies (SEANES) and the Philippine Ergonomics Society (PHILERGO) welcomes you to the 1st SEANES conference which will be held in Cebu, Philippines from December 14-17, 2010. This is the first time that ergonomists and human factors specialists will congregate in this part of the world and the organizers fervently hope that this will spur greater interest in the area of human factors in the academe and industry.
The theme of the conference is "Linking ergonomics and organizational strategy". Such a theme was chosen in order to promote the value of ergonomics in the organizational context. The conference aims to illustrate that ergonomics is an investment rather than a cost for companies. It should be seen as a strategy for increasing efficiency and improving the marketability of products.
The venue of the conference is Cebu City which is one of the oldest and historic cities in the Philippines. The city has many interesting tourist spots which include the Magellan's Cross and several Spanish colonial buildings. Participants may also visit the neighboring island of Bohol which is home to the Tarsier and many beaches.
Cebuano is the native tongue but English is also widely used especially in business transactions. Cebu is best from December to May when the weather turns dry. It is coolest from December to February, hottest from March to May.
We sincerely hope that you will enjoy your visit to the Philippines. The Filipinos are known for their hospitality and joyful demeanour. We are more than willing to assist you in whatever way we can. We wish you a pleasant trip and we look forward to your participation in this conference.
